Fabric Room

The Fabric Technology programme is designed so that students develop skills and an awareness of technological practice. While working in the fabric room, students have the opportunity to work creatively with a wide variety of textile products. In Year 7, all students begin by making the same project with the emphasis on learning how to use the equipment and tools safely and correctly while gaining practical sewing skills. These practical skills are then used in a new context when the students design and make individual projects.

Year 8 students follow the design cycle to develop their own ideas, draw these as workable patterns, then construct and sew the finished products. New skills are learned as they progress through these projects. By having students work on individual projects I am able to ensure that they work to their own capability so that all students achieve success.
