Inquiry learning is an approach to learning that puts the student at the centre and encourages them to pursue their own interests and passions within curriculum concepts. At Avalon Intermediate we select Big Ideas or Concepts that are relevant to student interest and that students can have input into.

Students follow the inquiry cycle to develop deep understandings and utilise a range of thinking, questioning and co-operative skills and strategies. Students are encouraged to use the knowledge and expertise that they gain to take action to make a difference for themselves or others. e-Learning is a natural part of inquiry learning and students choose and use a range of tools to assist with the inquiry process. Students often choose to use GarageBand and iMovie to share their learning process.
