Literacy Extension

Literacy Extension is an opportunity for students who demonstrate an ability and passion in this area to work together to develop their higher order thinking skills.

Our focus in Term 1 was to think critically about the texts that we are reading. We started a novel study and worked in groups to discuss the issues, vocabulary and main ideas from the text. We also created articles for the AIS Times Edition #1 for 2017, whereby each student chose a school event to report.

This has lead us in Term 2 where we are inquiring into picture books. We are looking at what effective picture books 'look like and sound like' and will be creating our own books using Storybird. The literacy extension students will then head out to our local primary schools to read our writing with younger students.
