SAMOAN LANGUAGE WEEK – 28TH MAY – 3RD JUNE 2017

“MA’AU I LOU OFAGA. MAUA’A LOU FA’ASINOMAGA”–Keep Your Identity Alive To Thrive

 “E maota tau’ava, mamalu tau’ave Samoa” – the essence of being Samoan accompanies Samoans

“Eloa ‘oe I lau gagana” – your language speaks volume of you

“A malu I fale, e malu I fafo” – respect yourself and others will too

“E le tauilo tama a Tausala” – great mothers rear great human beings

“O le gagana e lai’ ei ai le aganu’u” – language characterises the essence of culture

As part of celebrations for Samoan Language Week, Rangatira will be selling chop suey on Wednesday 31st for $3 a container.  This includes rice.  They will order in the morning, it will be ready for them at lunchtime.

 

YOUNG LEADERS  FUND RAISING

On Friday (tomorrow) our Rangatira are organising a sausage sizzle to raise more money towards purchasing games for classrooms on wet days.  The cost of a sausage is $1, please encourage your child to support this fundraiser.

 

IMMUNISATION/S FORMS

IMPORTANT  These forms need to be returned by tomorrow,  Friday please.

 

POLYFEST 2017Avalon Intermediate is performing on Tuesday 4th July. Starts @ 6pm (doors open 5pm).  Tickets are available from AIS  office from now until 28th June.  $5 (for each seat).  Healthy Kai and recyclable event:  bring a drink bottle for free water station/a coffee mug for hot drinks. The Polyfest is on all week of the first week of July.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S AWARD AND GOLD CARD WINNER

Congratulations to Bailey Dougherty Room 7 for being a positive role model.  Kobe Croft Room 2 won the lucky draw.  You two have been making good choices!

 

 

Meridian Energy

 

 

Next Tuesday representatives from Meridian Energy as part of Kids Can will be visiting all our classes to give all our students a beanie hat with their own named label to wear in this cold weather. All our students need to keep checking that the name is theirs before wearing them.  Thank you Meridian Energy for your generosity and also Ariana Te Whetu for her part in organising this for our students.
