MUFTI DAY Friday

ON THE LAST MORNING OF SCHOOL STUDENTS CAN WEAR MUFTI.  WE ASK THE YEAR 8 STUDENTS IF THEY WOULD KINDLY DONATE THEIR AIS UNIFORM TO US SO WE HAVE ‘SPARES’ FOR 2019.  PLEASE BRING IT TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE TOMORROW - DON’T WORRY ABOUT WASHING IT WE WILL DO THAT HERE.

School finishes tomorrow 14TH DECEMBER AT 12.15pm with the buses leaving shortly after.    Students are to leave the school and go straight home, only the very, very best on the last day!

THOMAS GEORGE MACARTHY TRUST

We have yet again been fortunate to receive a biennial Grant of $2,000.00 for our library.  We have purchased hardware for the library computers and lots of new, exciting books for our library which will greatly enhance and benefit our student learning.

MAGIC CARDS

Remember you can swim at all the Hutt City pools and use their libraries for FREE over the holidays.  Take advantage of this card and keep it safe!!!  We are very lucky to have this card.

YEAR 8 FORMAL

Thank you to Ariana Te Whetu who organised the evening at Upper Hutt Cossie Club last night.  It was a great occasion for the year 8s to get together and have lots of fun. Thank you Paasca our DJ!!

HUTT CITY COUNCIL BELTWAY CYCLEWAY

Just a heads up to our community, the Hutt City Council will be putting in a Beltway Cycleway down the left hand side of High St from Pomare Bridge down to Oxford Tce at AIS and then down to Woburn on the grass verge by the railway line.

If you wish to look more closely at the design, we have pictures and plans of the Beltway Cycleway at school or else go and have a look at the council office. It actually looks really exciting – maybe more students will bike to school once this is put in. Wouldn’t that be a good thing!

ABSENCES

We ask that you please advise the school when your child is away sick etc either by phone, text, or email There was a very large number of students away yesterday, and we only received approximately 6 notifications from parents advising the reason why. It is for your own child’s safety that we ask you to call and advise us that they will not be in. A considerable amount of time is being spent contacting parents who do not advise us, and this time could be spent educating your child.

FAREWELL TO STAFF & STUDENTS

We are saying goodbye to Paascalino Schaller who has been an integral part of AIS life for the last 6 years and has contributed a great deal as a music and film teacher. We look forward to him making a name for himself as a film maker in the future. Your name in lights Paasca!!

We also say goodbye to Rose Waldman and Lilliana Rodriguez who have been Teacher Aides over the past years we wish them well.

We have had another fantastic year of teaching at AIS;  I would like to thank all our hardworking staff for the extra efforts they have put in alongside students.  After reading the reports over the last weeks I realize just how good a place AIS is and how much is offered to our students with learning. There are many opportunities for students and we are proud of what we do.

We appreciate the help some families have offered in the form of transport, coaching of sport, going on EOTC and school trips.  Thank you;  we could not have managed without this extra assistance.

THANK YOU TO OUR FAMILIES

Farewell to our year 8 students and their families who are now moving from Intermediate onto College.  We hope you take the principles and values you were taught at AIS   Think back with happy memories of your two years at Intermediate with pride.  Take the values of our acrostic AVALON  with you throughout your life and live with it every day.
