SCHOOL PHOTOS

School Photos were taken on Tuesday, you may order class photos and individual ones if you require them, however they must now be ordered online. Your child would have been given a “shoot key” which can be entered at the following website https://orders.lcscott.co.nz

 

END OF TERM ASSEMBLY AND END OF SCHOOL TERM

Our end of term 1 assembly will be held on Monday 8th April at 1:10pm in our school hall.  Parents and whanau are welcome to join in the celebration of the first term, the award winner’s presentations and the gold card prizes.   

The school closes for the holidays on Friday 12th April at the normal time of 2.50pm.  Term 2 begins on Monday 29th April at 8:50am.

 

PRINCIPAL AWARD AND GOLD CARD DRAW

At this week’s assembly   Jordyn Barrow (Room 1) and Jayden Hewer (Room 2) won my Principal’s award for making excellent choices.                                                         

Kariah Rewiri-Cash(Room 4)won the gold card draw for the ‘N’ – Never give up.  Congratulations to these students who are making good choices at AIS!

SPORT

Baseball - Avalon played extremely well, impressing the organisers with their determination and gutsy performance at the tournament at Fraser Park last Friday. Pitching from a mound, getting players out running to first base, getting throwing and catching tips from experienced coaches plus Alapeta's home, run were highlights of the day. Thank you to the parents and whanau who supported the team. Mrs Makisi said the students were well behaved and had a very enjoyable day.

              

 

WINTER SPORTS

Basketball and Netball are about to start. The expectation of these two sports which take place in our school area are high. It is expected that all students who are in these teams turn up to coaching sessions and the games on time and in correct attire.

 

CAMP SURVIVOR

Camp Survivor is run locally at Silverstream Retreat, it’s all about fun adventure and friends, with activities games and challenges. This year’s FREE camp is going to be run on the 14-17th April for years 7 and 8 students. If your child is interested go to their website at www.campsurvivor.co.nz for more details and registration. It is worth trying to get your child attending.

 

INTERSCHOOL RUGBY 7’S

This takes place next Wednesday 10th April at Trentham Memorial Park, ( rainout date is Thursday 11th  April) We have 3 teams entered, a Year 7 and Year 8 boys team and a mixed girls team. Students will be bused to and from the event, you are welcome to come and support your child and our students.

 

BOT ELECTIONS 7th JUNE

A reminder that shortly the BOT Elections will take place and that parents will again be asked to put their names forward for selection. Leanne Thompson, our school secretary, is the Returning Officer and more information will come out over the coming weeks. The next two BOT Meetings are Tuesday 16th April and Tuesday 21st May if you are interested you are welcome to attend one of the meetings.

PROPERTY UPGRADE

The entrance to the school (in the technology carpark area) will be redeveloped starting in the school holidays. We will have a number of trees that are being removed and a safer entrance for students is being developed. Please be aware that this may affect carparks and entrance points to the school. If you pick your child up please meet them on Percy Cameron Street.
