Term 2 - Week 8 20 Jun 2019

NEWSLETTER  Term 2 Week 8

School reports will be sent home tomorrow.  Please ensure you discuss your child’s report so you are well informed prior to parent interviews on the 26th and 27th June. Have you made an interview time?

Booking forms for these interviews were attached to the newsletter last week. They can either be made online www.schoolintervews.co.nz using event code wrxbn or by calling the school office 5677453. A book fair will be held in Room 3 both nights at the time of the interviews. Please come along and have a look at what is available. Note: There will not be study centre on Wednesday 26th June and Thursday 27th June because of these interviews.

A number of students arrived late or did not arrive at all this morning with no notification of the reason they are absent. This can take the office 90 minutes to follow up trying to find out why your child is late or not at school. Please help your child/ren get to school before the 8.45am bell and also allow our office staff to be working on supporting learning, not making phone calls. This could be avoided by the courtesy of a phone call.

We have had prospective Year 6 students visit AIS over the last 2 weeks, we hope they enjoyed their day here. All students were given an enrolment pack, a reminder to these parents if you wish your child to attend AIS in 2020, please return the enrolment forms in asap, so that we can start our planning for next year.

Also a reminder to all our Year 8 parents that you should also be returning college enrolment forms. Colleges start planning early and students need to often select subjects or have interviews prior to next year.

Hearing Association Hutt Valley

The hearing association would like to remind parents to educate their children about safe hearing due to the rise of noise induced hearing loss. Discuss with your children that hearing loss can occur when you listen to loud sounds for a long time. Ensure everyone wears earplugs or earmuffs to noisy events, and teach your children to turn the sound down, walk away from loud sounds. Remember if you are listening to music and have to raise your voice to be heard the music is too loud!

We had an excellent turnout at our Year 6 parents evening on Tuesday night. Many parents turned out and they were impressed with what we are offering our Year 7 /8 students. We were very pleased with the evening and now look forward to receiving the 2020 enrolments.
