TERM 4 - WEEK 3 30 Oct 2020

Ramere 30 o Whiringa a Nuku   Friday 30th October 2020

Term 4, Week 3

Our school band represented our school very well at the Battle of the Bands on Tuesday. Although we didn’t take any major placings, we are very proud of Tulumeni Mafiti who won the award for Best Drummer. Congratulations Tulu! Thank you Stefan Poad for the work that you do with our band - it is great that they are now performing each week at our school assemblies.

Information about our school disco was sent home earlier this week. The costs of a ticket is $4 and it will be in our school hall on Thursday 5th November from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. Students pay their money to their classroom teacher. The theme is ‘Express Yourself’. Students need to be collected from the hall at 9pm.

We are offering 8 swimming lessons for students in Weeks 6 and 7 this term. They will go to Stokes Valley Pools during the day, and have a 30 minute swimming lesson with an instructor. There is no cost to these lessons as it is paid for using the school donation scheme from the MOE. If you would like your child to participate in these swimming lessons, please complete the swimming form that we have sent home today to let us know about your child’s current swimming ability. We will organise swimming groups based on this information. This needs to be returned to school by Wednesday 4th November (next week) so that we can pass this information onto the Swim School Coordinator.

The Year 8 celebration dinner will be on Thursday 3rd December at the Cossie Club in Upper Hutt and will cost $30 for a buffet meal. More information about the evening will be sent out next week but we wanted to let you know this date now.

On Monday the public health nurses will be in to administer the Gardasil injections for Year 8 students. Consent for this was obtained earlier in the year. They will also give the Boostrix immunisations to Year 7s who missed this earlier in the year.

We are currently reviewing our strategic planning and setting annual goals for 2021. As part of this process, we would really appreciate feedback from our families and community. There is a short survey that I have attached here and a paper copy has been sent home with students today. Thank you to those families who completed this for us last week, it is really helpful to have your voice and feedback. A reminder to the families of students who attend the free Goodtime Music Academy sessions on Friday afternoons that the end of year showcase is on Friday 13th November 4pm - 5pm at Goodtime Music Academy (50 Victoria Street, Alicetown, Lower Hutt). This is the last Friday Foundation Programme for 2020.

We will still be picking up students this day from school on our bus and would love for supporters, whanau and friends to join us from 4pm :) You are welcome to take your child home with you after the show.

All students will be performing in a small group piece with their chosen instrument, and in a large group piece. It is really important your student attends the remaining 2 programmes/lessons (tomorrow and the 6/11) so they are super ready for their performance!
