NEWSLETTER   NO. 7 – 19/3/2015

 

END OF TERM ONE

School finishes on Thursday 2nd April at the ‘normal’ time

of 2.50pm and starts back on Monday 20th April at 8.45am.

 

The final assembly to celebrate the term will be held on Wednesday 1st @ 11-15am. Award certificates will be presented and we will have the big end of term gold card lucky draw.

 

PARENT/CAREGIVER/TEACHER/STUDENT INTERVIEWS

It is final night tonight;  any missed interviews will be followed up by teachers to reschedule a suitable time.

 

COMPULSORY TECHNOLOGY FEES

Please could you ensure your child’s technology fee for term one has been paid by the end of the term ($20 per term or $80 for the full year). This is for the ‘take home’ component of their technology lesson. 

The renovation of the technology blocks is on target and we hope they will re-open before the start of term two.

 

MAGIC CARD

There are still quite a few students who have not returned the permission form for their magic card.  Return it now so you can use it for the school holidays. Note we are very privileged to have these cards so use them wisely.

 

REMINDER:  PASIFIKA SUCCESS TALANOA LAUNCH

All Pasifika students and families are invited to a launch at Taita College on

Wednesday 25th March (6.00 – 8.00pm).  All Pasifika students have brought home an invitation to this launch. We are still waiting for a number to come back.

 

SPORTS EXPO LAST SATURDAY

Thank you families who came to register their child for a sport.  We had a fun day and a good turnout.  Also thank you to staff and parents/caregivers who came to school to support us on the day.

 

HEALTHY FOOD AT SCHOOL

Can we remind parents/caregivers who are providing lunch for their child not to include  ‘junk’  food.  Chippies, sweets and fizzy drinks are not encouraged at school.  Students are also discouraged from buying drinks/food at the dairy. We provide a daily lunch service at school. 

 

UNIFORMS

Can we remind you again please name your child’s school uniform.  Every day we have students who have ‘lost’ an item of their uniform usually their sweatshirt.  We have warm trackpants in stock for the autumn/winter $36.

 

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD AND LUCKY GOLD CARD DRAW

The winner of Mr Hastie’s award is Kirstan Isaako R3  and the lucky draw winners are Margaret Hopoi R5 and Nikita Seluli R2.    These students have been making good choices at AIS!

 

SPORTS

Interschool Athletics:  as you are aware they were postponed on Tuesday until today.  We hope our 24 person team had a successful day even in the cold!!

Interschool Football:  Monday 30th March – boys, Tuesday 31st March - girls

 

WILLIAM PIKE CHALLENGE

A group of Room 7 students will begin their community service challenge on Saturday afternoon working in the gardens of Koraunui School alongside parent Jenni Ralph.  We congratulate the students and thank Jenny for her support of the school. NEEDS TO BE DONE TOMORROW!

 

XRACE – SATURDAY 21ST MARCH AT FRASER PARK 8.00PM START

Accompanying this newsletter is a flyer about the XRACE.  This is a team event involving 1 parent/caregiver and 1 child aged between 7 and 13.  Teams complete 10 Mystery Challenges. XRACE is a family race.  Normally the cost of $75;  we have a number of vouchers that will enable you to enter for only $10.  Read the Flyer; get back to us – first in get the $10 vouchers to enter. NEEDS TO BE DONE TOMORROW!!!

 

COMMUNITY NOTICES

Getting started in coaching courses:  Sport Wellington is continuing exciting courses for beginner coaches to develop more capable coaches with the aim of giving them the knowledge and skills to coach with confidence.  This is free and begins in Lower Hutt on Tuesday 24th March 6.30-8.30pm at Hutt Central School, 6 Railway Avenue.
