of 2.50pm and starts back on Monday 20th April at 8.45am.

LEARNING TERM 1 AND PARENTAL/CAREGIVER CONTACT
This has been a very focused term with most students into their learning and making good choices around it. We have also given parents/caregivers the opportunity to have dialogue with us on three different occasions around your child’s learning. Many of you have attended all three and I thank you for that. We do however still have a small group of parents/caregivers who have made no contact with the school concerning their child’s learning. I have said from the beginning of the term that for students to improve with their learning it requires both school and home to be working in partnership. I know that all our students are capable of doing really well with their learning and also of showing us their very best work efforts. This picture is a great deal easier for teachers when we know that parents/caregivers are on board alongside us. For those parents/caregivers still to have a learning conversation interview I urge you to sort it now before the end of term. Thank you.
PARENT/CAREGIVER/TEACHER/STUENT INTERVIEWS
Classroom teachers are ringing families who missed out on an interview last week to reschedule a suitable time. It is the intention of the school that all students are represented at an interview. Home and school communication is very important, especially to meet face to face and set your child’s goals.
TARGET STUDENT MEEETING – TUESDAY NIGHT
On Tuesday next week we are running a session for parents/caregivers of target students in Reading, Writing and Maths from 6-7pm. Parents/caregivers and families are welcome to come from 5.40pm for a bbq sausage. We are still waiting for some forms to come back; we would appreciate it if they are all returned by tomorrow. Thank you.
PAT MATHS TESTING
We are carrying out testing for maths next week.
ROOM 4 CLASS TRIP TUESDAY 31ST MARCH
ROOM 5 CLASS TRIP MONDAY 30TH MARCH
These 2 classes are visiting Te Papa and Parliament. The bus leaves at 9.30 and returning to school at 2.40pm. There will be no cost to students for this day. Please provide your child with a packed lunch, drink and warm weather coat.
FIONA DERHAM – R3 TEACHER
We will be pleased to welcome Fiona back to school next Tuesday 31st March and wish her well.
UPDATE ON THE RENOVATIONS TO THE TECHNOLOGY ROOMS
We are very pleased the art technology room is now completed and Kirsten Herd is in the processing of moving back and re assembling the room. The builders advise us the foods, fabric, hard and soft materials rooms are on track. I would like to especially acknowledge and thank the technology staff who have had the huge job of clearing and moving the contents of their classrooms only soon to move it all back. The staff have worked alongside this disruption making the best of it and continuing to produce quality programmes for the students.
ROOM 7 KAITOKE INCLINE WALK
On Wednesday R7 students walked with me, their teacher Matt Jackett and a parent helper up the Kaitoke Incline in preparation for doing the William Pike Challenge this year. We had a great day out taking great enjoyment seeing the tunnels and scenery of the trail. Well done room 7!
PRINCIPAL’S AWARD AND GOLD CARD DRAW
Well done Krystal Boyer-Marwood R3 who was chosen for Mr Hastie’s award this week. Also to Kararangi Waipouri R2 whose gold card was chosen for the lucky draw. It is great to see our Year 7 students making good choices at AIS.
