MAGIC CARD HOT TIP

We are a privileged school having the MAGIC CARD. Please encourage your child to use it at the local libraries and swimming pools. We want all AIS students to be using this card that gives them FREE swimming and FREE library usage. Make this weekend a MAGIC one!!

TAITA COLLEGE OPEN MORNING FOR

PROSPECTIVE YEAR 8S FOR 2016

All year 8s should have received their own prospectus to Taita College for the 2016 year.  They were also given a notice about the Open Morning taking place tomorrow (Friday).  We remind you if you are taking your child to this please let the school know by ringing our answerphone on 5677 453 or texting to 021 027 15243.

SPORT

Netball: Draw for Saturday Pulse vs Wainui 11am, Magics vs Maidstone 12pm, Ferns vs St Orans 3pm, Diamonds vs Chilton 5pm.

Waterpolo:  Well done  with a win against St Peter & Pauls 12 points to 2

Cross Country: Inter School Cross Country takes place at Trentham Memorial Park on Wednesday 10th June.  Please get permission slips returned back.

Basketball: Well done to all 3 teams who played well last night. Y8 boys – win vs Korokoro, Y8 girls win vs Hutt Intermediate, Y7 boys win vs Hutt Intermediate. Last weeks results were Y8 boys won vs  Petone Central, Y8 girls won vs Naenae Intermediate, Y7 boys had a bye.

CONTRIBUTING SCHOOL YEAR 6 VISITS – KORAUNUI AND TAITA CENTRAL SCHOOLS

Please note we will be hosting these two contributing schools on 11th June all day at school.  This is an important day for the school where we open our doors to potential 2016 students.  We look forward to seeing these students and of course have the expectation that our AIS students will be polite, helpful hosts to the visitors.

PARENT/CAREGIVER/TEACHER/STUDENT INTERVIEWS – WEDNESDAY 24TH JUNE AND THURSDAY 25TH JUNE

Notices for you to select your preferred time and day for an interview are attached.  They run from 3pm to 8pm and last for 20 minutes.  These interviews will discuss half year reports which go out Friday 19th June as well as student goals.

POLYFEST TUESDAY 23rd JUNE

Our school will be performing on the 23rd June at the Polyfest held at the Walter Nash Stadium.  Doors open 5:00pm and the show starts at 6:00pm. Tickets for parents / families are $5 per person and available to purchase from the school office

NAENAE FRUIT AND VEGE CO-OP

This co-op is worthwhile joining with a weekly 8kg fruit and vegetable bag available to all families who join . The amount you get is definitely worth it. The cost is $10 a week and you can pick the fruit and veges up on Tuesday 2:30-3:30pm. We are encouraging all families to think about this and a photocopied information sheet accompanies this newsletter.

CHINESE TEACHERS

We have 2 Chinese teachers -  Qi Xaiojina and Zhao Jinxia visiting AIS next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They will be involved with programmes and also looking at how we function at Avalon Intermediate.

POMARE SCHOOL SAMOAN INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION

A small group of students will visit Pomare School tomorrow as part of their Samoan Day Celebrations. Students will be out all day from 9:30am. A notice has gone home to the students involved.

THE MIND LAB FREE OPEN DAY

The Mind Lab offers creative and scientific workshops including Coding, 3d modelling and printing, robotics, game development electronics, film effects and animation. As part of the Hutt Valley STEMM festival they are having a FREE open day this Saturday 1:30pm -5:00pm Ground Floor IBM Building 25 Victoria Street Petone.
