BOT

At the Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday 16th February it was minuted that Helen Van der Raaij stood down as chairperson and Kevin Thickett has now become chairperson. Kevin will chair the Board until our elections in May/June.

School Trustees elections are one of the most significant democratic processes in New Zealand.  Our returning officer will be Leanne Thompson.  Election day will probably be on Friday 3rd June.  Please seriously consider what you could offer to Avalon Intermediate School Board of Trustees and our school community – training will be given to new members.  As the date draws nearer we will give you more information.

EOTC OVERNIGHTS

All the EOTC overnight stays and days out of school have been completed.  A big thank you to both our teachers and the parent/caregiver helpers.  It was a great chance to have lots of fun and class team building to get together and camp at school (although we don’t imagine much sleep was had!)  We are sure all students benefitted from their EOTC experience.  It was pleasing to see our students upholding our school ACROSTIC and understanding our expectations at Walter Nash Stadium and the Taita Clubhouse.

SCHOOL PHOTOS – 4th APRIL

Envelopes will be sent home with this newsletter.  Can we remind you to make cheques payable to L C Scott nor have the expectation of us giving change.  These envelopes are passed to the photographer and remain sealed.  If you would like a family or sibling photograph we have separate envelopes at our school office.

SPORT

Inter School Athletics:  Monday 21st March at Newtown Park for those who excelled and made the school team.  A letter has been sent home to these students taking part.

                                 EASTER BREAK

Please note this is not far away.  AIS will be closed between Friday 25th March and Tuesday 29th March.  Students start back on Wednesday 30th (this also happens to be the first night of our goal setting interviews.)

GOAL SETTING 3 WAY CONFERENCES

An interview time sheet has already been sent home.  These interviews are Wednesday 30th & Thursday 31st March 2.40pm-8.00pm. Please complete the interview time sheet and return it to school. The teacher will follow up with an appointment note.   If you have students in more than one class try and get them at similar times.  These meetings are very important and we normally get a very good turnout.  Teachers will follow up any missed appointments. (Note the first day of interviews is the Wednesday after the Easter Break).
