THREE WAY CONFERENCES – INTERVIEWS – TEACHER/PARENTS/CAREGIVER/STUDENT

Thank you to all our families who came to their child’s interview last night and will be coming tonight.  Anyone who hasn’t been able to make the interview will be contacted to re-schedule.  The BOOK FAIR is on in Room1 until 8pm tonight.  Please have a look at the book selection when you visit.

 

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The BOT met on Tuesday 21st June:  Kevin Thickett was re-elected as chairperson and Mike Mercer from the HCC has been co-opted on for finance.  The BOT members are as follows:  Kevin Thickett (Property), Vicki Taula (Community Liaison) , Helen van der Raaij (Community/Deputy Chair), Henry Skipper (Community), Alicia Wharewera (Health & Safety) and Mike Mercer (Finance).  Staff rep:  Joan Makisi.

POLYFEST 2016 WALTER NASH CENTRE (TUESDAY 28TH JUNE)

Have you bought your tickets yet?  The Polyfest is a wonderful occasion and always very popular.  We are selling tickets @ $5 each from the office. Last day of sale tomorrow.

 

SPORT

Waterpolo Results : the team faced a tough Wellesley A team on Wednesday night.  A strong third quarter by Wellesley gave them the advantage the final score was 14-6 to Wellesley.

 

Netball Draw: Ferns   1pm court 8,  Magics 4pm court 5,  Pulse 1pm court 5, Diamonds 12noon court 1, All Stars 10am court 5.  All girls need to be in attendance for games.

 

OPEN DAY AT AVALON INTERMEDIATE

We welcomed Y6 students on Tuesday to AIS from some local schools.  Thank you AIS for being good hosts which fits in with our ACROSTIC :  OUR PLACE – respect myself, my class, my school and my community.  There will be another open day in early August for other local schools

 

 

 

 

PB4L AWARDS FOR OPEN DAY ASSEMBLY

Congratulations to Holly from Tawhai, Miracle from Naenae, Niamh from Rata Street, Remy from Belmont, Ella from Avalon Primary and Brayden from Avalon Intermediate who won awards when visiting on Tuesday.

 

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD/LUCKY GOLD CARD DRAW

The principal’s award  went to Paige Simi R4 for making excellent choices L – LEARNER/LEADER – taking responsibility for own actions and learning.

Ben Tangaroa R5 won the gold card draw for being L – a LEADER/LEARNER,  Ben you are making good choices – well done.

 

Special mention to Cory Horne R5  for O – OUR PLACE.        Cory showed respect and looked after Our Place by returning lost property (which was accidently dropped by an elderly lady in the community) to the office. 

 

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER FOR USA BASKETBALL TRIP

A huge thank you our helpers:  Jakaan, Tamara, Tupou and Mrs Makisi and to all our local supporters who came in on the day.  It was a good day and we managed to raise $220.70.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Please ensure all uniform is clearly named and your child is wearing correct uniform.  This also includes shoes.  We have the expectation our uniform is worn with pride of being a student at AIS.  Uniform detentions are starting on Monday for non-compliant students.

 

MUFTI DAY – FRIDAY 1ST JULY

To support our two NZ Representatives for their trip to USA for basketball.  A gold coin donation please.

 

LOCKDOWN/EARTHQUAKE AND FIRE DRILLS

The school has successfully carried out these drills for term 2.

 

WHANAU PARENTS MEETING

On Monday 4th July @ 6-7.30pm all Maori parents are invited to this meeting at the Walter Nash Centre.  A separate letter will also be sent out to whanau
