SCHOOL WIDE TESTING
STAR and PAT was completed this week for nearly all students. This testing will be used to support end of year achievements.
SCIENCE QUESTIONNAIRE
We would really appreciate hearing parent’s/caregiver’s ideas/comments on the learning of science at Avalon Intermediate by filling out this yellow survey form and returning it to school. As you are aware we are making science a high area of interest at AIS with Rose Campbell and now Joan Makisi involved with the Royal Society Science Programme. Joan will be on this programme in terms 1 & 2 next year as Rose did this year.
END OF YEAR ASSEMBLY- MONDAY 4TH DECEMBER AT 1.00PM
Please note this date so you can support our school.
SOLAR POWER
The engineers have started to fit the Solar Panels above Rooms 1 – 3. It is all very exciting and we are taking lots of photos. We will also be putting panels above the technology block. Both sets of solar panels will give the school 20kw of power which in the long term will save the school money. We intend having a special assembly on Wednesday 22nd November to recognise ‘Solar coming to AIS’.

SPORTS
Touch Rugby: Well done to the AIS Beasts who won their game last Friday in the rain.
Cricket: this continues on Wednesdays with the Taita Club; our students are enjoying these sessions. It would be really good if we could get a number turning up for the Taita Cricket Club on a Saturday morning.

OUTSTANDING FEES
At this time of the year we always end up chasing up fees that need to be paid, in particular the $80 technology fee. Accounts were sent out not long ago. We would appreciate it if these could be paid now. Thank you.

Last night students went to Hutt Intermediate to complete in the EPRO8 Challenge. Team Plato was made up of Jahdyst, Jason, Thomas and Ben came 6th while Team Socrates had Marissa, Destiny, Bonnie and Josh who missed out on a big score by a few minutes.
A big thank you goes out to the girls for responding to the late call up.
