KAHUI AKO/COMMUNITY OF LEARNING
As you are aware we are one of 7 schools belonging to the Taita/Stokes Valley Kahui Ako that guides students along a local schooling pathway towards our local Taita College. Most schools
in NZ have now joined a Kahui Ako. Accompanying this newsletter is a coloured flyer that outlines briefly what it is all about and what we are trying to achieve as a learning community.

SOLAR ENERGY LAUNCH – Wednesday 22nd at our assembly at 11am
Next week Maggie Twaddle from PowerTech will be in school working with our students on Monday and Tuesday. She will also be working with staff at our staff meeting on Monday night. A group of year 7 students will be selected to become Energy Detectives in 2018 – this group will have a leadership role to play next year around educating staff and students. At our assembly roll out on Wednesday we intend celebrating the introduction of ‘Solar to AIS’. You are invited to attend this 11am assembly.
2018 INFORMATION FOR YEAR 8s
Our year 8s for 2018 have received a letter outlining the starting date, stationery requirements, uniform shop hours etc. Please keep this letter for future reference.
OUTSTANDING FEES TECHNOLOGY FEES FOR 2017
At this time of the year we always end up chasing up fees that need to be paid, in particular the $80 technology fee. Accounts were sent out not long ago. We will now be sending a letter home to all families whose records show that technology fees are still outstanding. We ask you please to make payment. Technology fees must be paid by year 8 students before payment of the formal.
SPORTS
Swimming: Killarney Howsan Room 7 recently attended the Wellington Reginal Swimming Sports and came away with some fantastic results. Up against some impressive swimmers Killarney delivered finishing 2nd in girls 50m breast-stroke and 2nd in girls 100m IM while also gaining some personal best times. Overall AIS finished 10th out of the 12 schools with Killarney displaying the AIS way that one person can make a difference. Well done!

LUCKY GOLD CARD DRAW
Leyton Carroll from Room 3 won the gold card prize for A – ASPIRE Push to do my best every day to achieve, setting goals, be the best you can be, Maramatanga (having high expectations). Well done Leyton you are making good choices.
