Term 2 - Week 2 10 May 2018

NEWSLETTER NO. 12   10/5/18

BEING LATE TO SCHOOL/ABSENCES

We are noticing an increased number of students arriving late to school.   Please ensure your child arrives before 8.45am for the first bell.  We understand problems do arise at home from time to time but often it is the same students being a bit lax about organizing themselves to be on time!  If your child will be arriving late please ring the school on 5677 453 or text to 021 027 15243.

Also this applies to any absences.  The class roll is called at 8.50am and students who are not there are marked as absent. This information is sent to the office and absences are rung. It is a safety requirement for the protection of our students.  It is most important late students sign in at the office to avoid confusion.  If your child is absent please ring the school absence line on 5677 453 or text to 021 027 15243.

WORLD OF WASTE TOUR

Room 7’s WOW trip (World of Waste) gave students the opportunity to see where our rubbish ends up and the effects that failing to effectively recycle, has on our environment. We visited a number of places including; the Silverstream landfill, Dowse Museum, Waste Management Recycling station and Macaulay Metals. It’s fair to say that our students now have a new appreciation of the importance of reducing rubbish and recycling and are building their understanding around sustainability. A big thanks to Matua Jonas, the HCC and all our experts.

REVOLUTION TOUR

We had a performance from the Revolution Tour yesterday it was thoroughly enjoyed by all students as can be seen by some of their comments:

*Bola shared ‘‘bullying or taking stuff out on yourself doesn't change anything’’, and if you need help talk to someone

*My highlight was the dance battle because I liked how the A.I.S students expressed the talents.

*The way I felt was excited and I also got goose bumps up my legs and arms.
