BEING LATE TO SCHOOL/ABSENCES

We are noticing an increased number of students arriving late to school.   Please ensure your child arrives before 8.45am for the first bell.  We understand problems do arise at home from time to time but often it is the same students being a bit lax about organizing themselves to be on time!  If your child will be arriving late please ring the school on 5677 453 or text to 021 027 15243.

Also this applies to any absences. 

+ FIRST AID / HEALTH +

Please could you inform the school if you have any updates we should know about on your child’s medical health. Please make sure the school has up to date phone numbers!

GOLD CARD / PRINCIPALS AWARD

The Principals award went to Beatrice Masson for good learning choices –ASPIRE. The gold card draw went to Taumaloto Kepa-Toaga from Room 7 for valuing his learning by listening and responding in class. Well done to you both

SPORT

Netball:  Netball grading games continue this Saturday.   

Ferns won 6-4 against MIS 3 and won 13-6 against Fergie 4 this week they are playing Chilton 2 at 9.30am and Hutt E at 10.00am

Diamonds won 6-5 against OLRS 1 and won 20 – nil against Hutt J this week they are playing MIS 5 at 10am and then Fergie 7 at 11am

Magics won 31 nil against WIS Rata   and won against NIS 6 21-2 they are playing St Orans  Magic at 9.30 and St Orans Pulse at 10:30am

Basketball: We have 4 teams entered this year, who had their first game last night. There is no Basketball next week

Yr 8 Boys played TAWKKM won 35-11

Yr 7 Boys played Randwick lost 19-18

Yr 7 Girls played Chilton Red won 10-8

Yr 8 Girls played St Orans won 35-6

ORCHESTRA WELLINGTON

Friday 17th May 7pm at Walter Nash there is a free concert with special guest Annie Crummer, performing the best of Motown, Film favourites and some kiwi classics! Also featuring Arohanui Strings – Sistema Hutt Valley. We have some tickets available which will be issued on a ballot basis, please call the office if you are interested in getting tickets. This is a fantastic night well worth attending.

POLYFEST

This will take place the last week of term 2 at Walter Nash on Wednesday and Friday nights.  Julia Poasa, Liz Moka and Jonas Malmanche have already started working with students around the AIS performance.

 

YEAR 8 COLLEGE ENROLMENTS

Please start thinking about what college you son or daughter will be attending next year. Colleges are starting to have their open days, and all our year 8 students will be attending Taita College open morning on the 12th June. It is important that you get your enrolments in early so that they can plan classes.

WELLINGTON SAINTS BASKETBALL

A big thank you to Theo Johnson and Sunday Dech from the Wellington Saints for coming out to spend time training our basketball teams yesterday. The students had a great time.

CAMPS

These take place at Brookfield in Wainuiomata on the first week of Term 4 14th -18th October. The reality of this being only 17 school weeks away. We envisage the cost will be in the vicinity of $50. The full details and costs will be out later this term.

GOODTIME MUSIC

On a Friday afternoon during school term time we currently have 38 students from the Hutt Valley aged between 7-12years, on our Music Scholarship Programme, This is where they receive music lessons and mentoring. It is free of charge, We pick up from school, Drop off students to drop off points in the Hutt Valley, Provide afternoon tea, Provide performance opportunities, Encourage community engagement, Leadership skills and so much more! If your child is interested enrolments forms are at the school office.
