Term 2 - Week 10 04 Jul 2019

                                    Term 2 Week 10

                         FINAL NEWSLETTER MESSAGE

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the AIS Community for all the support given to me over the last 20 years. It has been a privilege and a pleasure to be Principal. Your kids, our students are on the whole a giving, sharing, kind, hardworking bunch of students who have bought me great joy. I am always proud of what they do and try to do. I leave knowing the school is in good hands with a very dedicated staff who work hard to improve learning through many wonderful opportunities.

Ariana Te Whetu will be Acting Principal for Terms 3 and 4. The next level of leadership below Ariana at school will be picked up by a number of staff members doing extra duties, so we are taking the view that it is business as usual. The Principal position will be advertised late Term 3 or early Term 4.

The end of term 2 is TOMORROW Friday 5th July finishing at 2.50pm.

Term 3 begins on Monday 22rd July at 8.45am.

Reminder that our end of Term Assembly is on tomorrow at 11am followed by our Cultural Feast which you are welcome to attend.

We were proud to see our Huttfest 2019 Poly group performing on stage last night at Walter Nash and tonight sees our Kapa Haka Group performing. The These groups have spent a great deal of time practicing and preparing for each performance – this included lunchtimes and afterschool practices as well as regular sessions during the week. A special thank you to Julia Poasa, Joan Makisi, Liz Moka and Jonas Malamanche, our students are lucky to work alongside you.

Congratulations tothe winner of this week’s assembly gold card draw Hera Thompson, time to get creative with your stationary kit over the holidays.

My last AIS Principal award goes to Tanisha Silan for making excellent choices with her learning.

Thank you to those parents who came along and supported your children’s reading by purchasing books from the book fair. By doing this you have allowed the school to receive 20 books for the library.

We are currently looking very closely at student attendance and lateness. Teachers will be having conversations with students and we will be ringing home checking why students have poor school attendance. If this is your child please fix it starting Monday July 22nd!!

To all our families have a happy, safe holiday break.  Keep up your

reading and use the Magic card for free swims and internet use! It is really important we use these cards so we don’t lose the privilege. Mrs Te Whetu will see you all back at school on Monday July 22rd at 8:45!!
