TERM 3 - WEEK 4

AVALON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Rapare 7 o Here-turi-koka - Friday 7th August
Term 3, Week 4
Kia ora koutou,
Since we moved to Alert Level 2 we have worked with our students to make sure that we are following the procedures to keep everyone safe. Most of our students have been at school and I am really proud of the way that we have adjusted to these changes again. Our staff are reminding students about what they need to do.
Our focus at Alert Level 2 is:
Maintaining physical distancing (not being in the breathing space of others)
Keeping up good hygiene practices
Keeping track of people who enter our school
Staff and students staying away from school if they are unwell
If we do move to Level 3 it means that students must stay home, unless their parents are essential workers and cannot organise alternative care. We will then ask parents to contact us IF your child needs to attend school at Alert Level 3. We are all hoping that we do not have to go up an Alert Level, however it is important that we are prepared and this has been an important priority for our staff this week. If we move to Level 3, students will bring home a small work pack that is suitable for the curriculum level that they are working at, and they will also be able to bring a chromebook home. All students know how to use their chromebook and how to find the learning activities that we set up for our Home Learning Programme, which is found on our school website www.avalonintermediate.school.nz
Metlink Update
School-Wide Challenge - $50 Pack n Save Voucher!
An ‘Urgent Update of School Records’ is attached to this newsletter. Please check that the contact details we have for your family is correct. Our staff spent a lot of time during lockdown calling numbers that did not work and it’s really important that we can get in touch with you, to make sure everything is okay and to offer support for learning.
Please write on the form whether the details are correct, or need updating and your child can return this on Monday. Alternatively, you can email Leanne Thompson admin@ais.school.nz and let her know if it is correct or needs updating.
All entries will go into the draw to win a $50 voucher at Pak n Save - this draw will be made on Friday 21st August.
Interschool Cross Country
22 students from A.I.S went to Granada North in Tawa on Monday 10th August for the Inter-intermediate cross country. The weather was perfect for running. After we walked the track, each age group raced for 3 km over banks & through muddy tracks. Our top results were Taylor Cooper placing 22nd , Kori Hodges placing 42nd and Sanomiya Sathasivam placing 47th.
