MAGIC CARD

Slowly we are getting through to our students the great benefits of having a free Magic Card.   We are lucky to be one of the fortunate schools chosen to receive them. Can all parents please ensure that your child uses the Magic Card both at the pool and the library. Thank You

MATHLETICS and ROCK ‘N’ THE WRITING

Congratulations to the following students who received the Mathletics Award  Damian Scahill Rm 7 and Rock ’N’ Writing Award went to Junior Joe Rm 7.

CHOCOLATE RETURNS

A letter was sent out last week to remind those that have had chocolates for a number of weeks to return the money by this week. Not all of these return slips have come back signed to the school. Can this please be sorted? There are still more chocolates to be sold.  Take up the offer and help pay your camp!!

REMAINDER OF THE TERM

We are almost down to the last 15 days of term and generally it has been very successful with high numbers of students engaged in what we are offering around learning.  Term 4 will be on us very quickly. 

SWIMMING PROGRAMME

Our intensive swimming lesson programme finishes tomorrow. A number still have fees to pay for this. Can you please be proactive and help us.

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD/GOLD CARD AWARD

Congratulations to Seth Leslie Rm 3 who won my Principal’s award and Naomi Masson Rm 4 the lucky winner of the gold card draw for this week. Well done.

 CAMP

This is now only 9 weeks away including holidays.  Please have the conversation with your child about the camp to Holdsworth Lodge so that you are fully informed about what is happening.  Camp costs are $90 per student.  Dates for camp are Rooms 5, 6 & 7 Tuesday 3rd November to Friday 6th November. Rooms 1 & 2 Tuesday 10th November to Friday 13th November, Rooms 3 & 4 Tuesday 17th November to Friday 20th November. 

If students are going to Camp ALL FEES need to be paid before Camp is paid.

SPORT

Netball Times:  The season has now finished.  A big thank you all the parent/and teacher coaches and to the team supporters.  We could not have done this without you. Also a big thank you to the Taita College umpires and Maureen Turley for her assistance.

Basketball Results: Decisive wins for both teams last night. Y8 boys played Korokoro Heat, while the Y7 Boys played SBC Gold, Great games thanks boys

HOCKEY SKILLS SESSIONS

As part of our North East Pathways sports initiative all students will be receiving Hockey Coaching starting next week for the last 3 weeks of Term.

KIDS CONNECT

A group of students will represent the school at Naenae Primary School next Tuesday as part of this environmental hui.

TAITA COLLEGE UNIFORM SALE

For those heading off to Taita College next year they are having 30% off all uniform in stock until 25 September. The uniform shop is open on a Tuesday from 2.00pm – 3.30pm or by appointment. Please ring Ronwyn Coffey, Uniform Shop Manager on 567 8728 ext 235.

GARDASIL INJECTIONS YEAR 8 GIRLS

Please note the last follow up of the Gardasil for year 8 girls will be next Monday 7th September.

ROOM 6 CLASS FIELDTRIP

Rm 6 are off to Victoria University next Wednesday for their class trip. Letters have gone out detailing the trip to parents/caregivers.

DISCO

We have a Disco down for Wednesday 23 September, please note this, more details will follow.

ARTSPLASH ART EXHIBITION

On Tuesday night AIS students took part in Artsplash at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington. 6 Students who took part in Wearable Art elective at school exhibited their costume on stage to an audience of over 2000. Artwork was also displayed from students in the Visual Art exhibition in the Foyer. Artsplash ends tomorrow.

COMMUNITY NOTICES

Taita Cricket Club:  Junior Registration Day Saturday 19th September at the Clubrooms, Fraser Park 10am – 12noon. Get along and PLAY CRICKET at a great club.

Taita Computer Clubhouse: Have you visited?  Some great things are happening.  Pop along to the Taita shop and have a look.  The official opening is going to be Tuesday 6th October 2-30pm.

QUIZ NIGHT TO SUPPORT AIS

This will take place at the Sprig and Fern, Jackson Street in Petone to support our Fitness Area. If you want to attend $10 per person – Make up a team of 5-6 people. 7.00pm start e-mail emma.wicks8@gmail.com to enter.
