SCHOOL ROLL

We are very pleased that our school roll is up considerably from 2015 with a high number of local students taking a local education pathway which I believe is essential for healthy communities.  Thank you for all your support.

PARENT/CAREGIVERS/STUDENT EVENING

Thank you to families who came to support their child and the school on Thursday last week.  We hope you found the information helpful and had a chance to meet your child’s teacher.  These ‘get together’ evenings are a great way for home and school to meet. It was wonderful to see you all.

TERM 1 CLASSROOM MEETINGS

These will take place on:

Monday 21st March for Rooms 2, 3, 5 & 7     @ 6.00 -7.00pm

Tuesday 22nd March for Rooms 4, 6, 8 & 9    @ 6.00-7.00pm

Please diary these dates as they are important student- led meetings that inform parents/caregivers about learning in classrooms.

TERM 1 PARENT/CAREGIVER/TEACHER GOAL SETTING INTERVIEWS

These are 1-1 interviews for parents/caregivers that give you information about how your child is doing and how we can work together to help him/her.  The interviews will be held on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st of March.  An interview time form will come out closer to the date to select times.  Each time slot is 20 minutes.  Please note the dates.

MATHS CO-TEACHING

Next week we will be starting a Maths-Co-teaching session on Tuesdays for one hour.  This will see two teachers working in one room teaching maths.  We are trialing this model in the belief that it will help us raise Maths Student achievement as well as give teachers support from each other.

We have talked to the students about and carried out successful school-wide earthquake , lockdown and fire drills.  We have emergency water, food, equipment and basic first aid items situated in various sites around the school should there ever be a civil emergency.  To aid in keeping your child safe we need to keep up-to-date records so if you know any of your phone numbers etc have changed please let the office know.

SCHOOL SUNHATS/SUNSCREEN

The sunhats have now arrived so we ARE required under our Health & Safety Policy that all students are wearing one.  They are available from the school office @ $15 each.  Please name them under the brim in white twink. We do provide sunshades for  protection from the sun.

We have been very kindly donated tubes of sunscreen from the Cancer Society for each of our school students.  One tube will be sent home today with all students.  Please check your child brings it home!!

Remember "SLIP, SLOP, SLAP!!"  It has been recommended to patch test for at least 24 hrs before application.
