TERM 1
We have just finished week 5 of an 11 week term so ALL students are now well into our routines and are aware of how AIS works. The focus is learning and we will be driving that hard with all students. In many cases we need to be pushing to accelerate the learning to get students working to the best of their ability. Support from home is also essential to make this work.

BOT ELECTIONS 2016
A reminder to all parents that this year is an election year for the Board of Trustees. Please start giving some thought to putting your name forward to stand. One meeting is held every month with other meetings depending on what the Board is dealing with. There are information booklets available at the school office for parents who require more information.
STUDY CENTRE
This begins next week on Tuesday for Maths and Thursday for Literacy. Environmental has already begun. Invitations have been sent home today.
SCHOOL CLOSED FOR TEACHERS MATHS DAY
A reminder to all parents that the school will be closed to students on Friday 8th April so classroom teachers along with teachers from other schools will be involved in a Maths Professional Development day held at AIS.
EOTC OVERNIGHTS
Please note that these start next week for Room 3 & 6 on Monday and Tuesday with the remaining classes the following week. Please ensure that you have returned permission slips and you are fully aware of the gear students require for the overnight team building experience. If you can support the two days as a parent/caregiver helper that would be a big help.
SPORT
School Athletic Sports: Please come along to school tomorrow and see your child involved in a number of sports throughout the day.
Inter School Athletics: Monday 21st March at Newtown Park for those who excelled.
SCHOOL BREAKFASTS
These have started every morning. If your child wants a school breakfast it all happens in the hall at 8.30am. Roll up, sign up and have breakfast!!

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD AND GOLD CARD DRAW
Congratulations to Tayne & Tiana McKinnon the winners of my Principal’s Award for Excellent Sporting Success. Both girls have been selected for the New Zealand Under 13 Basketball Team which will go to Las Vegas in the USA in July. Fantastic effort we are all very proud of your achievements. The Lucky Gold Card Draw was won by Kyra Ambrose Rm 2for the ACROSTIC “L”.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEDxWELLINGTON
What is TED? TED’s mission is “Ideas Worth Spreading”. What is TEDx?” The TEDx Programme is designed to help communities, organisations, and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. Come to the Walter Nash Centre on Saturday 5th March to see it “live”. Screening times: 11am – 12.30pm, 1.30pm – 3pm & 4pm – 5pm.
