AVALON INTERMEDIATE BOARD ELECTIONS

Nominations for parent representatives on the new BOT  must reach our school office by noon on Friday 20th May. (tomorrow)

Have you returned your vaccination and dental forms back to school please?

SCHOOL UNIFORM

We remind parents/caregivers that all our students must be correct school uniform.  This means coming and going to school in their polo top, sweat top, shorts or trackpants not PE gear.  Socks must be ankle length and shoes trainers not sandshoes, slip-ons or ankle boots.  Only black or white long sleeved tops can be worn under the polo tops.  Please would you provide your child with a rain jacket or rain coat.  The winter seems to have come with a rush and it is not a good start to the day to have wet students.

The wearing of uniform is part of taking pride in our school under our ACROSTIC – OUR PLACE.

OUR SCHOOL ACROSTIC GUIDELINES

ATTEND,    VALUE,     ASPIRE,     LEADER &              LEARNER,    OUR PLACE,     NEVER GIVE UP!

We have spent a great deal of time working alongside AIS students around what our ACROSTIC means re being positive and  hardworking .  We expect all students to be following all aspects of the ACROSTIC.  Only the very highest of standards are expected, also I have always been proud of how AIS students look after each other and expect their support of difference to continue.

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD AND GOLD CARD DRAW

Well done Aria Neemia  R2 for winning my principal’s award and  Isabelle Elliot R 3  for O – LOOKING AFTER OUR PLACE  for the lucky gold card draw.

BREAKFASTS AT SCHOOL

We have a free breakfast club every morning in our school hall beginning at 8.30am. Students are welcome to come along and sit up at the table to have their breakfast with other students. Don’t miss out – 10 minutes in the hall is all the time it takes.

SPORT

Netball Draw Saturday 21st May:

Avalon Ferns 12.30pm court 7,     Avalon Magics 12.30pm court 6,     Avalon Pulse 10am court 7,    Avalon Diamonds 12.30pm court 5,     Avalon All Stars 9.30am court 6.

Basketball: well done to the Yr 8 boys for a very exciting win last night against Wa Ora 30 – 21.  With 2 minutes to go the score was 21-25 so a close game towards the end.   A good, solid start for the Yr 7 boys showing a lot of promise and determination against a very strong SBC side.  Keep up the hard training boys.

DRIVING INTO THE SCHOOL DRIVEWAY

Can we remind all parents/caregivers please not to drop or pick up their child inside the school drive.  It is extremely busy in the mornings and afternoons and it is a safety precaution not to have cars coming in and out.  There is plenty of parking along the road or around the corner in Percy Cameron Street.  Thank you.
